The Mere Golf Resort & Spa scooped the Silver Flag Award at this year’s 59club Sales & Service Excellence Awards which took place at The Belfry Hotel & Resort on February 27th 2017. The event is now in its 7th year and honours the best golf clubs and resorts from around the country, recognising those that have constantly strived to achieve service excellence.
Following a visit by 59club mystery shoppers and testers, The Mere Golf Resort & Spa scored higher than other golf venues, allowing us to pick up the Silver Flag Award. The 59club sets the benchmark for golf service throughout the UK and recognises venues for their commitment to guest satisfaction.
During the visit, the mystery guest evaluated the venue and awarded it on a points system, taking into consideration numerous factors including the sales team, customer focused service, the operations team, assistance in our golf shop, the quality of the Championship Golf Course along with the food and beverage management. From this, each venue is marked independently to ensure a fair and unbiased representation.

About the 59club Awards During the evening, there were 24 awards across a variety of categories such as Greenkeeper of the Year and Golf Manager of the Year. The highlight of the night was the 59club Industry Benchmark awards which are only given to the finest member clubs and commercial venues that achieve both the required standard of service, from the benchmarking criteria and those that also provide excellent facilities for golfers to enjoy. These are divided into three sectors – Gold, Silver and Bronze and often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the golf industry. During the awards, 59club awarded 13 Golf flag, 6 Silver flag and 6 bronze flag awards.
