Weather experts have ramped up warnings of an Arctic blast bringing extreme wintry conditions to Britain by Friday the 13th and possible Thundersnow.
The Artic Blast will first hit Scotland and the North on Wednesday before gradually moving down to the south. Temperatures are expected to sink to below -10C across large parts of the UK in conditions that are expected to be colder than Iceland.
Four inches of snow is also forecast to bury the UK by the end of the week.
This cold snap will be the first of this winter, The Met office have issued a Yellow weather warning for snow, the worst of the snow will fall in Wales, northern Scotland and north west of England. The Met Office has warned commuters to expect heavy traffic problems as thick ice and snow seem likely to disrupt services across the UK this Friday.
